Career planning is one of the crucial decisions a student has to take in their life. A good career plan will lay the foundation for a successful and satisfying career and life. However choosing a career is not an easy task. Beyond gathering the reliable information on different career options, eligibility criteria’s and reputable institutions one also have to take into account student aptitudes, academics, talents, interests. So also various other important variables have to be considered before making a decision.
Understanding the difficulty the students and parents are confronted with, we at St Thomas are actively involved in the student life as early as the tenth standard. We support them with personal counseling, Seminars by experts, Career Classes and site visits.
The results are reflected by the fact that majority of our students are today studying and working in leading institutions nationally and internationally.

 

Laboratory

Science is different from any other subject. In order to understand its concepts, one has to look beyond the books and conventional classroom teaching. Effective teaching and learning of science involves seeing, handling, and manipulating real objects and materials. St.Thomas School combines classroom teaching with laboratory experiments to ensure that their students grasp each and every concept thoroughly. It is also believed that laboratory teaching and experiments that are being conducted there help encourage deep understanding in children. Children are able to retain the knowledge for longer when they see the experiments being performed in front of their eyes.

The School has well equipped laboratories For Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Students are encouraged to use these laboratories to learn through experiments. Every year latest instruments, specimens, charts etc. are purchased for these laboratories.

 

Library

The library of St. Thomas Residential School has a collection of more than 20,000 books nearly 1,500 Reference Books and 45 periodicals. Every year more than 500 new books are added to the present stock and some old books were discarded. The Library is fully computerized with a high emphasis on educational support. Online catalogue has been provided for students and teachers. Even parents can search the catalogue for the availability of books in the library through the Parent’s Portal in the School Web Site. Computer facility is provided in the library for students and Internet service is made available free of cost. In order to make the students aware of the importance of reading books and to improve their reading habit, we observe Library Week every year. The LED display board installed inside the library continuously displays scroll of Flash News, Current Events, important messages like Thought for the Day, Word of the Day, information about newly arrived books etc.
There is a Sr. Grade Librarian, an Assistant Librarian, a Library Assistant and a helper to ensure the smooth functioning of the Library.        

 

Computer Center

A sophisticated state-of-the-art computer lab with more than 250 computers, uninterrupted power supply, stand-by generator and round-the-clock internet facility is the pride of the St. Thomas Schools. All the teachers are computer literate and have undergone 'Intel Teach to the Future' programme. Technology-aided teaching is effectively carried out using an LCD Projector in an Audio Visual room. The prestigious Computer Literacy Excellence Award at the State and National levels was conferred on the school in 2002 and thus raises it to the position of the nation's best in modern technology.

The first Computer Literacy Excellence Award (State and National levels) was conferred on St. Thomas Residential School by the President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on 29 August 2002. To meet new challenges and developing students abilities smart class is the best solution.  We have installed intelligent interactive panels one each for every classes. It helps the teachers to access multimedia content and information, that can be used for teaching students, more effectively.

 

Smart Classroom

Technology activated teaching and learning process is effectively enabled in the class rooms. This helps quality teaching and learning for  microlearning. With an aim to provide quality education, technology activated learning is initiated through the set-up of smart classrooms.  ICT is being used in our school’s education to aid effective delivery system for teachers and learners. Adhering with the modern e learning and online education based system, the smart class provides a platform for online e class.
